Welcome to Style + Lead, a professional development and mentoring community, to increase the diversity of our field, and help develop artists from all backgrounds to grow their costume careers. I started my costume career in academia studying design at Penn State University (Bachelor of Arts, Theatre) and earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Costume Design from Brandeis University, in Waltham, MA.

My costume career was launched after becoming the national winner of ABC's Dancing with the Stars' Costume Design Contest. My professional experiences range from television to film, working in all positions in the Costume & Style Industry from production assistant to department head. My credits include Glee, the daytime talk show, The Real, and Blackish (for which the costume department led by Michelle Cole and Devon Patterson, was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Costume Design), I have created personal brand elevating looks for celebrities walking the red carpets of the Oscars, Emmys, MTV Movie Awards, SAG Awards, and the VMAs. But this career field isn't just filled with red carpets and beautiful clothes. Many days begin with 4am wake-ups and include hard work for over 12 hours a day. Prior to designing in Los Angeles I spent time living in New York, working in corporate fashion as a Merchandiser at Tommy Hilfiger, contributing to new product development during the day and spending nights designing costumes for Off Broadway theatre.

I am honored to be a member of the Costume Designers’ Guild 892 and the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. Join our Style + Lead community to meet other emerging costumers and artists just like you. We welcome you and hold a safe space for all creatives to connect and grow their professional network.

Sincerely,

Rebecca
